One of the reason for the relative and high cost of agarwood is the depletion of the wild resource.Agarwood forms as resinous substance deep inside some kinds of tree from southeast Asia. Many Cultures prise agarwood, which is not wood at all, as incense and perfume oil to use during religious ceremonies at temples and mosques excessive harvest of agarwood from supposedly protected forests has made resin rare as well as endangered many species of host trees.
